“When machines are dreaming” - Künstlerliste
Künstler, Programmierer und Dozent an der Kunsthochschule Tama in Tokio, entwickelt detaillierte 3-D-Modelle alltäglicher Räume. Die Arbeit des 31-jährigen, in Japan lebenden Künstlers erlangte internationale Aufmerksamkeit als er 2014 ein Musikvideo für den digitalen Musiker Holly Herndon produzierte.

Alba D’Urbano (* 13. April 1955 in Tivoli, Italien) ist eine italienische Künstlerin, die seit 1984 in Deutschland lebt und seit 1995 als Professorin an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig lehrt.
Nach einem Lehrauftrag an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main erhielt sie 1995 einen Ruf an die Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig, wo sie seitdem eine Professur für Computergrafik innehat und seit 1998 die Klasse für Intermedia leitet. 2003/04 war sie für ein Studienjahr an der Freien Universität Bozen tätig. Seit 2000 kuratiert sie im Rahmen ihrer Hochschultätigkeit zahlreiche auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene, die sich mit politischen und sozialen Themen auseinandersetzen und dabei sowohl prozessorientierte als auch medienreflexive Methoden einbeziehen. Neben ihrer eigenen künstlerischen Tätigkeit arbeitet Alba D’Urbano seit 2000 mit Tina Bara zusammen.
Alwin Weber ist Musiker und Künstler, Löter und Frickler. Der 1984 geborene Dresdener arbeitet und wohnt seit 2005 in der Neustadt und ist Szene-/ und Genreübergreifend aktiv. Neben Konzerten, Installationen und diversen Bandprojekten bei denen er mitwirkt, veranstaltet er Circuit Bending und D.I.Y.- Elektronik Workshops und gibt sein Wissen und seine Erfahrungen in seinen Kursen gerne weiter.
Die Düsseldorfer Künstler Giulia Bowinkel & Friedemann Banz, Absolventen der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, beschäftigen sich mit der Materialität des Digitalen und dessen Übergängen zur physischen Umwelt. Ihre Arbeiten reflektieren das Verhältnis digitaler Techniken zum menschlichen Körper und zu traditionellen Modi des künstlerischen Schaffens. Zuletzt waren sie im NRW-Forum Düsseldorf in der Ausstellung „Virtual Body“ zu sehen.

Today i self consider my works as „Conceptual Experiences“. All my works are investigating a exsisting context under the view of the common sence, in a formal, social, place specific, historical and politacal way and try to expand it through my artistic transformation. My single pieces was always thought as an artistic part of a hole thing. So my works follows the idea of a counterpart in its surrounding. The content determine the form (format/media) and the form becomes an artistic level in my figured out artworks.
Die in Frankreich geborene, guyanisch-dänische Künstlerin Tabita Rezaire bezeichnet sich selbst auch als Heilpraktikerin und intersektionale Predigerin. Ihre künstlerische Praxis versteht sie als „digital healing activism“, mit der sie rassistische, koloniale, patriarchale und heteronormative Weltsichten unterwandert. Die Arbeit „Premium Connect“ hinterfragt die Trennung von Organismus, Geist und Technik und erkundet die Möglichkeiten dekolonialistischer Technologien.

Michele Spanghero has exhibited and performed in different international contexts such as museums, galleries, clubs and festivals in Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Turkey, Egypt and USA.
His research focuses on the acoustic art, declined in the form of music or sound art, and on visual art in the attempt to find a natural synthesis (non synaesthetic) between these two forms of expression. The methodological approach characterizes his work through a continuous survey of the limits of the media: through the study of music and theater, he has indeed acquired an oblique approach that, usually starting from the sound, becomes instinctively tangential to visual art.
His discs have been released for several labels such as Dedalus Records, headphonica, Palomar
Records, Gruenrekorder and MiraLoop.

Aram Bartholl
Aram Bartholls Werk schafft ein Wechselspiel zwischen Internet, Kultur und Realität. Wie beeinflussen uns unsere Kommunikationswege, die wir als solche nutzen? Bartholl fragt nicht nur, was Menschen mit Medien tun, sondern was Medien mit Menschen machen. Spannungen zwischen öffentlichem und privatem, online und offline, Techno-Lust und Alltag stehen im Mittelpunkt seiner Arbeit und seiner öffentlichen Interventionen und Installationen, die oft überraschend physische Manifestationen der digitalen Welt mit sich bringen und unsere Vorstellungen von Realität und Unmoral herausfordern. Bartholl hat im MoMA Museum of Modern Art NYC, dem Skulptur Projekte Münster und in der Londoner Hayward Gallery ausgestellt und zahlreiche Workshops, Vorträge und Performances international durchgeführt. Bartholl lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und ist Mitglied der Arts&Culture Gruppe des Chaos Computer Clubs.
Stefan Römer
Von 1986 bis 1991 studierte Stefan Römer Kunstgeschichte, Ethnologie und Vergleichende Religionswissenschaften in Bonn, Köln und Berlin, und arbeitete seit 1991 freiberuflich als Künstler und Journalist. Stefan Römer schreibt unter anderem für Kunstforum, Texte zur Kunst, Spex, Frieze, taz, Camera Austria, Springerin und Konkret zu Themen wie Kunst oder Kulturtheorie; bisherige Schwerpunkte waren beispielsweise Künstlerische Strategien des Fake und die Kritik von Original und Fälschung, Präsentationsweisen zeitgenössischer Kunst, die neuen Werte von privater Öffentlichkeit und neuem Konsum als kapitalistischem Selbstzweck oder die Selbstorganisation an Kunsthochschulen. Er war Herausgeber des Fanzines „Nervenpolaroid“ in den 80er Jahren und Mitherausgeber des Münchener Künstlermagazins terrain vague (2003-09).
Emmanuel Grimaud
Emmanuel Grimaud is an anthropologist and film maker (CNRS-Paris Nanterre). He conceived with Zaven Paré a robot of the hindu God Ganesha to enable people to incarnate God themselves and have a conversation (*Ganesh Yourself*, film, Rouge International/Arte, 2016). He has been the curator of the exhibition *Persona, étrangement humain *(Musée du Quai Branly, 2016). He has published many books, based on ethnographic inquiry, including one on the story of a Gandhi’s lookalike (*Le sosie de Gandhi*, 2007), on religious animatronics (*Dieux et robots*, 2008)*, *on japanese robotics *(Le jour où les robots mangeront des pommes*, 2011) and more recently on indian astrology (*L’étrange encyclopédie du Docteur K*, 2014). Before *Ganesh Yourself* (2016), he made several films, including *Cosmic City* (2008)*, *on the psychedelic world of religious animatronics in India, *Kings of Khwaang* (2013) and *Eau Trouble (2013),* with Stéphane Rennesson, exploring the strange worlds of beetle fight amateurs and fish fight in Thailand.
Jonas Lund
Jonas Lund is a Swedish that creates paintings, sculpture, photography, websites and performances that critically reflects on contemporary networked systems and power structures of control. He earned an MA at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam (2013) and a BFA at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam (2009). He has had solo exhibitions at Whitechapel Art Gallery, London (2016), Steve Turner, Los Angeles (2016, 2015, 2014), Växjö Konsthall Sweden (2016), Boetzelaer|Nispen, Amsterdam (2014), Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam (2013), New Museum, New York (2012), and has had work included in numerous group exhibitions including at Carrol/Fletcher, London, ZKM, Karlsruhe, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Witte De With, Rotterdam, De Hallen, Haarlem and the Moving Museum, Istanbul. His work has been written about in Artforum, Kunstforum, Metropolis M, Artslant, Rhizome, Huffington Post, Furtherfield, Wired and more.
Jaakko Pallasvuo
Jaakko Pallasvuo (b. 1987) is an internet-based artist working in Helsinki and Berlin. He has studied at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. Pallasvuo’s semi-autobiographical video essays revolve around how identities are constructed and performed in networked media environments. Pallasvuo’s work has been shown at Higher Pictures Gallery in New York, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, Future Gallery in Berlin and Saamlung Gallery in Hong Kong.
Ernst Markus Stein & Jules Laplace
*1984 – radio maker and founder of DIYChurch.org, DJ and visual artist. DIYChurch is a weekly online 2hr long live stream that is around the internet since 2009 and tries to reflect and represent independent non commercial culture, art and music. Ernst Markus Stein has been doing radioplays and radio works since the early 2000 and did works for ORF, Wavefarm, NTS Live, WDR, Goethe Institut, ZKM, Radio Central, Radio Libertaire, Cynetart Festival, WFMU and released a number of self published radio plays and tapes.
Andreas Trobollowitsch
Andreas Trobollowitsch is a Vienna-based composer, performer and sound- and installation artist. He works extensively in the fields of electroacoustic composition and improvisation, and has composed for dance, theatre, film and radio. Based on rotation, vibration and feedback systems he uses mainly modified everyday objects, prepared fans and string instruments.
Recently he has been focusing primarily on conceptual compositions, self-developed musical instruments, sound and drawing installations. Interested in dichotomy of the intelectual and the physical he includes visual aspects, spatiality, movement, and the way that they relate to sound. State Scholarship for Composition, SHAPE artist 2017 … CD and DVD-releases on schraum (Berlin), Monotype records (Warsaw) and Filmarchiv Austria(Vienna), Solo CD – release December 2015 on cronica records (Porto).
Tegan Bristow & Nora Al Badri
Berlin-based multidisciplinary artists Nora Al-Badri and Nikolai Nelles have worked together since 2009. Their artistic practice encompasses visual art, documentary filmmaking and cultural activism. Their work addresses hegemonic and neo-colonial power structures and representations of the Global North and South, reflecting on the absurdity of the human condition. The pair stage interventions to challenge social infrastructures and institutions through civil disobedience, and pursue a critical re-evaluation of the cultural commons.
The Other Nefertiti (2016) involved the public release of a high-res 3D data file of the Nefertiti Bust, an Ancient Egyptian artifact housed in the Neues Museum in Berlin, so that anyone can study, reconstruct or remix it. The work considers the role of copying in preservation and questions how access to global heritage is controlled. A scale reproduction of the bust was included in the exhibition “A World of Fragile Parts”, curated by the Victoria & Albert Museum at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale.
Al-Badri and Nelles have participated in the 3rd Design Biennial (Istanbul), the Something Else, Off Biennale (Cairo), and the Darmstadt Tage der Fotografie (Germany), and have staged public interventions at Biennale 4, Thessaloniki (Greece) and Occupy Frankfurt. They have exhibited in many galleries and project spaces across Germany. Their work has been featured in international media including the New York Times, BBC, Arte, the Times, Le Monde Afrique, Egypt Today, Hürriyet, Wired, Der Spiegel, New Scientist, Dezeen and Artnet.
Nora Al-Badri is a multi-disciplinary artist with a German-Iraqi background. She studied Visual Art at Offenbach University of Art and Design and graduated in Political Sciences at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Nikolai Nelles is a German multi-disciplinary artist, graduating from Offenbach University of Art and Design in 2011. They have received grants from the Goethe-Institute, Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (IfA), German Federal Foreign Office and European Cultural Foundation (ECF).
