Wiebke Herrmann TUTTO PASSA

With TUTTO PASSA Oberüber Karger presents works by Dresden artist Wiebke Herrmann. The Italian expression for "everything passes" is both comforting and sobering. It refers to the transience of the moment and the ambivalence of experience - located between hope and finiteness.

This tension is reflected in Herrmann's painting. Her pictures show people, mostly from her personal environment, in moments of pause. Scenes that appear frozen and yet are permeated by inner movement. The depictions are often at a tipping point: something is about to happen, a change is in the air, but its outcome remains open.

In oil on canvas, she translates her carefully developed pictorial spaces into a reduced, clear painting. She matches the colour palette to the motif and its unique lighting mood. Figures appear partially anonymised, narratives remain fragmentary. What remains is a moment between standstill and movement: captured and yet already in the process of fading away.

TUTTO PASSA can be seen at Oberüber Karger from 6 June 2025. The vernissage with the artist begins at 11 a.m.
