In the exhibition *Cats & Dogs*, two artistic approaches come together which, at first glance, appear to be opposites, yet it is precisely this contrast that gives rise to their shared tension. Cindy Hennes works with reduction: lines as precise mark-ups, as a rhythmic condensation of perception and experience, which generate a clear and concentrated visual language. Thomas Judisch, by contrast, operates more within the representational, the fragmentary, the found-object-like, which inscribes itself into the space and allows for narrative allusions. Between these poles – order and chance, control and play – a dialogue emerges that does not resolve itself, but deliberately remains open. The exhibition interprets ‘Cats & Dogs’ not as a pair of opposites, but as a productive
friction between two systems. Like cats and dogs, the works move around one another, observing, confronting and ignoring one another at the same time.

Hamburg and Dresden function not merely as exhibition venues, but as two coordinates within an expanded space, linked by exchange and a long-standing artistic friendship. This interplay creates a field in which microstructures and fragments of everyday life mirror one another. Lines become traces, objects become signs. Cats & Dogs
is thus less a thematic exhibition than a state of being: a precisely arranged juxtaposition that does not smooth over differences, but rather makes them visible.
