Vernissage und Künstlergespräch
01.02.2026
Heliography is a variable and time-consuming technique in which the image is created on a metal plate coated with asphalt under the influence of strong light. The Frenchman Joseph Nicéphore Niépce used this process 200 years ago to create the world's first surviving photograph.
Thomas Bachler has worked intensively with this process and used the technique of heliography for his own works. His works will be shown in the exhibition.
As part of the opening, he will develop a heliograph that was previously taken in long exposure from the Ernemann Tower. There will also be an opportunity to talk to the artist.
