Exhibition Opening:

The starting point of the exhibition project is the 40 university teaching and research collections of the TU Dresden and the collections of the HfBK Dresden. 

They contain models, teaching panels, display cases and objects of other genres that have been collected or produced with special didactic intentions. They are multi-layered testimonies to the production of art and knowledge for 200 years.

In the Oktogon, Kunsthalle der HfBK Dresden, groups of works created or arranged especially for the project by Olaf Holzapfel (*1967 in Dresden, lives in Berlin) are presented in the context of the scientific tableaux. The result is a complementary staging that considers the tableau as a form of organisation and display as well as Olaf Holzapfel's artistic reference from several aspects. In this way, significant entanglements between object cultures in art and science from the 19th century to the immediate present become visible.
