"to carry" refers to an action, a burden, a relationship between body, material and memory. In the joint exhibition by Patryk Kujawa and David Wittinghofer, the term becomes the starting point for a multi-layered examination of origin, labour and identity. Both artists approach the material and symbolic traces of their family biographies - and use them to create a dialogue between craftsmanship, history and the present.

The exhibition is funded by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony, the Office for Culture and Monument Protection and the Osterberg Foundation for Art and Culture.
