Sisook Kang, Seladon-Mond-Gefäße
22.05.2026 — 17.07.2026
Elegance, lively calm and serenity are expressed in the vessels of ceramicist Sisook Kang, born in Seoul in 1962, with a naturalness that seems almost impossible today. In 2023, the artist was represented with her work in the "Minimal" exhibition at the Humboldt Forum in Berlin, which focussed on trends of radical reduction and elegant simplicity in contemporary art.
Sisook Kang's work moves within a highly abstract and yet traditional canon of forms, in which the smallest deviations and shifts are important and express the artist's personality.
Material has its own language, can tell stories and, when used correctly, can become a symbol of an idea. Light water blue, jade, olive and mint green combined with silky matt shimmering to shiny glass that suggests optical depth characterise genuine celadon glazes, including those by Sisook Kang. Naturalness and noblesse enter into a rare symbiosis.
