The exhibition examines the role of images, archives and collections for memory culture and historical perception. The starting point for many of the works are historical image sources - in particular postcards, photographs or found objects - which act as visual documents of past places and events.

One focus is on images of synagogues in the German-Polish-Czech region, many of which were destroyed during the National Socialist era. The exhibition thus addresses both the loss of architecture and cultural sites as well as the importance of visual archives for the reconstruction of history.
