POSTPRODUCTION

With POSTPRODUCTION, Antje Seeger is showing a 50-metre-long photo-video frieze that combines personal memory with artistic research and investigation. The starting point is an experience from her art studies, which triggers a search for traces of the after-effects of authoritarian ways of thinking in the art field. At the centre is the examination of the Cologne art dealers Eva and Heinrich Stünke and the question of how their Nazi involvement was suppressed or reinterpreted after 1945. Research photographs, archive material and film sequences combine to create a multi-layered visual structure in which past and present overlap. As a walk-in thinking space, POSTPRODUCTION makes visible how ideological structures continue to have an impact - and how they continue to shape artistic activity today.

The artist and filmmaker Antje Seeger works at the interfaces of installation, intervention, photography and film. In her works, she examines images and their production conditions as actors in social transformation processes. Her works have already been shown internationally. For example, at the Goethe-Institut London, the  Goethe-Institut Rotterdam, the 16th Media Art Biennale Wroclaw, the Kunsthalle Kempten, the Schlossmuseum Weimar, the Architekturtage Österreich, the Beijing International Short Film Festival and the DokFilmFest Kassel.

The exhibition is supported by the state capital Dresden, the Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen, the Ostsächsischen Sparkasse Dresden, the Stiftung Osterberg für Kunst & Kultur and the patrons of the gallery's Friends' Association. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget adopted by the Saxon state parliament.
