From 20 September 2025 at Oberüber Karger

With Soft Spot Oberüber Karger presents a concentrated cross-section of the painterly oeuvre of artist Paul Pretzer. The focus is on his portraits and still lifes, which move between absurdity and profundity, between playfulness and seriousness.

Pretzer juggles with the triad of colour, form and content. The works stimulate and open up spaces for interpretation in which the comical and the normal coexist. His pictorial worlds are often idiosyncratic and bizarre, but never arbitrary. Figures, animals and objects appear again and again as if they had fallen out of a dream. The emotional power of the pictures lies in the unspoken, in the space in between. This is precisely where the "Soft Spot" is located.
