The exhibition Papier ist geduldig / Paper doesn't blush brings together three artistic approaches that stem from a shared working reality. Noemi Durighello, Anna Lorenzana and Virginia Lorenzetti studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK) and now work in the same studio. For the first time, their artistic affinity enters into a public dialogue. Paper forms the starting point – not as a neutral medium, but as a material in its own right. It stores, transforms and preserves traces. Between document and fragment, surface and body, permanence and transience, a shared space for thought emerges.

Paper as a shared language
“Paper is patient” – expressed more poignantly in English as “paper doesn’t blush” – points to the ambivalence of a material that seemingly absorbs everything and yet never remains without a history of its own. Colour, printing, ageing, folding and destruction leave their mark on its surface. Paper becomes both a repository and an agent. The small-format works emphasise this materiality. They demand proximity and a focused gaze, transforming the small into a site of intense perception.

Three positions – a field of tension
Anna Lorenzana moves between analogue and digital archives. Signs, data and fragments are transformed into objects made of ceramic, metal or mosaic, becoming material traces of a cultural memory caught between preservation and overwriting. Noemi Durighello fragments and repeats motifs from real and digital visual worlds until their original legibility disappears. The image becomes an open process and a space for thought. For Virginia Lorenzetti, paper itself becomes the subject of investigation. Liquid, plant-based dyes and time intervene in its materiality. Printed handkerchiefs become fragile vessels of memory, whose meaning is only revealed through movement and unfolding.
