Open Studio - Drew Johnson
11.06.2026
Drew Johnson as a fellow of the exchange programme of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC)/ Columbus Ohio, USA in Dresden.
Ohio-based filmmaker Drew Johnson is known for his unconventional approach to filmmaking. He pursues an independent artistic approach and champions original stories created outside of the traditional film industry.
During his residency in Dresden, he is developing a documentary film that draws comparisons between his hometown of Columbus and Dresden: two places that underwent significant structural and demographic changes in the mid-20th century. The film project explores how each city was shaped by reconstruction and how this history continues to influence its identity today. He will be showing his work as part of an open studio at the Raskolnikow Gallery on Thursday, 11 June from 7 p.m.
Funded by the Office for Culture and Monument Protection of the City of Dresden and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
