A joint banner art campaign by 18 Dresden cultural institutions and initiatives at nine central locations
To commemorate the 79th anniversary of the destruction of Dresden in World War II and as a reminder
for democratic and humanitarian values
How can we remain human - even in inhuman times? World War II and a reminder
for democratic and humanitarian values
How can we remain human - even in inhumane times?
In the face of war and violence and on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the destruction of Dresden in February 1945, the joint artistic poster campaign draws attention to the consequences of authoritarian tyranny and misanthropy.
Tomorrow and the day after: What decisions do we need to make today so that we can continue to live in democratic and humane societies tomorrow?
Contribution of the Kunsthaus Dresden:
"My Sister and I"
Cihan Cakmak
Two people connected by a touch: Cihan Cakmak is concerned with the possibilities of human closeness that bridges differences and conflicts without dissolving them. How can we strengthen our cohesion and overcome experiences of loss? Changes in living environments and the existential uncertainty associated with them often accompany several generations.
The photographs and video works of the Leipzig-based artist, who was born in 1993, thematise areas of tension between origin and self-determination.
On http://www.weltoffenesdresden.com is a contemporary sound composition based on the melody of a Kurdish children's song.
It was developed by Cihan Cakmak in collaboration with the Leipzig sound designer Matthias Propach.
