Art in the Saxon State Parliament

The Saxon State Parliament, the seat of the state parliament, is the most important place for political discussion and communication in the Free State of Saxony. It is not only where laws are passed, the government is scrutinised and the Prime Minister is elected, but also where contemporary art is promoted.

Over the past 25 years, more than 450 works have been purchased, gradually building up a collection. In addition to big names, there are newcomers and forgotten positions that all want to be discovered. During this 60-minute guided tour on Monday, 8 December 2025, 6 pm, you will gain an insight into this collection of paintings, drawings, prints and collages based on selected works. An excursion primarily through Saxon painting with works by Siegfried Klotz, Stefan Plenkers, Thoralf Knobloch and Horst Leifer, among others. This tour introduces selected artists and explains the basics of painting composition and colour application.
