The exhibition ‘Milk Wood’ brings together analogue black-and-white photographs of various coastal regions and time periods, which coalesce into an imaginary topography. 

The photographs by Klaus Kaeten (1941–2020) from the 1980s, four decades later, establish a connection with the more recent photographs by Adam Dreessen (*1979), taken four decades later; these were shot with the same medium-format camera, but on different coastlines and with a distinct visual approach. 

Just as Dylan Thomas in ‘Under the Milk Wood’ creates an external and internal world through sound, rhythm and linguistic association, so too do the different photographic perspectives generate a visual cosmos of fragments and allusions, in which the seen merges with the imagined.
