Maja Drachsel, Feldsteine, Malerei
20.03.2026 — 08.05.2026
Saxony is not on the Mediterranean, but sometimes you could believe it in front of Maja Drachsel's paintings.
Born in 1978, the artist studied at the HfbK Dresden until 2015, has been an artistic assistant for painting technique there since 2019 and lives in Dresden.
Luminous yellow-green, blue, pink, blue-green and pink make the silhouetted objects in her paintings shine and form a resonant,
emotionally charged, painterly poutpourri. The nervous, linear dynamics of comic strips run through permeable painted surfaces, spatial depth is created
through the play with colour and transparency.
Sun, shadow, stillness - life, city life, calm, inner turmoil - the darkly romantic to necrophilic side of Dresden (post-)expressionism
dives here into friendlier, life-affirming realms.
