On the first Saturday of every month, the Liquid Sound Club presents a live-mixed music programme for fans of dreamy electronic and aquatic sounds.

Inannia presents: A Melody Road

When Shizuo Shinoda accidentally scratched the road surface with a bulldozer, he realised that melodies could be created depending on the depth and spacing of the scratches. In 2007, the Hokkaido National Industrial Research Institute refined Shinoda’s concept to create a ‘Melody Road’.This led to the creation of several 250-metre-long Melody Roads: the first in Hokkaido, another in the town of Kimino in Wakayama, a further one in Shizuoka Prefecture on the road to Mount Fuji, and a fourth in the village of Katashina in Gunma Prefecture.

And so it was this evening in Bad Schandau. As one glides through the water, a gentle murmur can be heard. A structurally distinct, long and narrow sound segment settles into the element of water. Sound production generates vibration, and tones shimmer in the air like atoms. The Melody Road is being played.
