The SO BEAUTIFUL AS CONCRETE series was created in response to the serial building style of WBS 70 in East Germany in the 1970s. It combines private and social ideas of interior design and aesthetics, which are characterised by personal histories, social structures and cultural influences. (K.M.)

Klara Meinhardt uses the cameraless CYANOTYPIE, an iron-based photographic printing process, and exposes object images on image carriers. She finds her motifs in urban, public and private spaces.

In 2024, Klara Meinhardt explored traces of former residents' homes in vacant flats at Neustädter Markt 12, above the Fotoforum Dresden. At the same time, she shows abstract art-in-building of GDR modernism as an aesthetic moment of ZUHAUSE in public space.

Klara Meinhardt (*1987) studied Fine Arts at the HfBK Dresden and Performative Art and Sculpture with Monica Bonvicini at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She completed her master's degree in media art at the HGB Leipzig in 2015. She lives and works in Leipzig.

For the eighth time, works by nominees for the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY will be shown in an exhibition at FOTOFORUM DRESDEN; here for the second time in a solo exhibition.
