In her series Grid, Juliane Schmidt works with around twenty graphite pencils of different gradations, varying the intensity of pressure and the sharpness of the lead. Her freehand drawn, intersecting straight lines do not follow any optical findings, but allow the forces of inner structures to become perceptible. Each line grows as a trace of a moving point and thus becomes a storage medium for the dynamics, direction, tension and time of her drawing.

In addition, morphological word games are created in ink on paper. Overlapping word formations and typographic-formal condensation open up several levels of meaning.
