Is Happiness Allowed?
Hannah Doepke and Leo-Constantin Fischer

13 November to 13 December 2026

Is happiness permissible in a present characterised by crises, loss and fears about the future? In the exhibition Is Happiness Allowed?, Hannah Doepke and Leo-Constantin Fischer explore this question from both personal and societal perspectives. Their artistic works address grief, fears and the search for direction, but also resilience, change and what connects people. In paintings, sculptures and videos, costumed figures encounter one another in a dystopian desert; sentences spiral across ceramic discs; and shadows drift across leaves and skin. The two artists do not answer the question of happiness, but rather take it further: who could be the ‘we’ that still holds out hope despite everything?
