To mark the 250th birthday of the painter genius, we take a special look at his view and depiction of a sacred FOREST NATURE and try to build bridges between then and now. Nature painting, nature reflection and nature photography enter into an exciting dialogue.

Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) is rightly regarded as the most important artist of German Romanticism and his life and work are closely linked to the natural beauty of Saxon Switzerland. On his hiking excursions around Krippen (see the Caspar David Friedrich Trail), he drew his spiritual and natural aesthetic inspiration and - in the spirit of early Romanticism - brought his Christocentric panentheism to concrete sensual expression in timeless works of art.

Prof. Dr Harald Seubert is a philosopher and Protestant theologian. He teaches as a professor of philosophy and religious studies in Basel and has also worked on the aesthetics of Romanticism, among other things.

Philipp Zieger is a member of the nature photographer cooperative Stativkarawane and developed a passion for photography over 10 years ago and with it a love of landscape photography. Saxon Switzerland is a wild and romantic treasure trove of the German low mountain range landscape. It is through this landscape that the Malerweg trail leads people through all the facets of the region. Philipp Zieger and the tripod caravan invite you to follow them along this path and be enchanted by impressive images and dreamy time lapses.
