In a present that is increasingly characterised by crises and uncertainties, one emotion is increasingly taking centre stage: fear. It is not only an individual feeling, but also a social phenomenon with a political and public impact.

The GEH8 annual theme is dedicated to this ambivalence and understands fear as a contradictory force between paralysis and activation. "Trembling & Anger" describes the area of tension between inner trembling and outer rebellion.

The focus of 2026 is on the outward expression of fear: protest, resistance and public uproar. The group exhibition brings together artistic positions that deal with these dynamics and open up different perspectives on collective states of tension.

The indoor exhibition is complemented by an outdoor extension: flag artworks in public spaces visibly convey the theme to the outside world.
