FREAKSHOW - Ausstellung von Margarita Zakaryan

FREAKSHOW - Exhibition by Margarita Zakaryan

Margarita Zakaryan, a photographer and musician of Armenian descent who lives in Germany, is presenting her new photographic exhibition "Freakshow" at the Full Moon Gallery. The works show fleeting, unique moments and the quiet poetry of the everyday: Long exposures that stretch time, shadows that engulf faces, tiny details that seem alive, portraits that stare back a little too long. A freak show of the almost invisible. Not the loud monsters and screaming clowns, but the quiet, beautiful kinds of "freaks". Photography has been part of her story since childhood: Her father was a passionate photographer and she was painting before photography. Her painterly background still characterises everything she does today.

The photographs are created out of pure emotion and chance and capture moments that are often overlooked in everyday life: unusual encounters, ephemeral objects or scenes that only exist once. For example, a damaged piano that has been standing in the sun and rain for months, or moments from improvisation theatre - fleeting moments that would be lost without the camera. Margarita deliberately works with simple, direct techniques because simplicity speaks directly to the viewer, without intermediaries or hidden masks.

Some of her photographs have already been shown on other stages, including in Gothenburg, Sweden. Selected works from these can also be seen in the exhibition "Freakshow" at the Full Moon Gallery.

From 1 to 30 May 2026, the Full Moon Gallery invites you to encounter photographs that whisper, look back and hold your gaze for a moment longer than expected. An invitation to experience the inconspicuous in a new way.
