The Hamburg artist and e.o Plauen Award winner Isabel Kreitz has re-illustrated Erich Kästner's best-known children's books, including "Emil and the Detectives" and "Pünktchen und Anton", with her comic adaptations, following in the artistic tradition of Walter Trier.

Ulrike Möltgen from Wuppertal has taken on Kästner's short stories   For "Das Märchen vom Glück" and "Das Märchen von der Vernunft", she has created surrealistic visual worlds in collage style that make these less popular texts shine.

On the occasion of Erich Kästner's 125th birthday, the gallery in the Central Library is showing selected originals by the two illustrators. As part of the opening, both artists will provide insights into their working methods in conversation with illustrator Sabine Wilharm.
