DIE NOTWENDIGKEIT DER KUNST – MALEREI VON UWE PESCHEL
Uwe Peschel „Fernweh“, Öl auf Leinwand, 70 x 50 cm

It was a quick decision to exhibit the works of Uwe Peschel before the end of this year. A lot of time has passed since his last presentation in our gallery, years full of unusual demands and tensions, both for the artists and for the galleries.

It is the field of tension between abstraction and figuration that characterises Peschel's work. It is like a glimpse into another world, a play of colour and light. Dynamic forms, generous brushstrokes and expansive formats reflect the concentration in the artist's personality. Instead of a detailed interpretation, his work demands an immediate experience of form and emotion. It becomes clear that there is no beauty without content and that a certain beauty can itself be content.

He has succeeded in developing an independence without chasing after modernism and yet still maintaining a connection to contemporary art. What's more, it is an endeavour to find answers in art to the global issues and upheavals we are currently experiencing. The aim is to make our fellow human beings aware of the necessity of art, to strengthen and protect creative forces and, most importantly, not to let up in this endeavour.
