With Collezione Grande, Leipzig’s Galerie b2 is exhibiting at Galerie Felix in Dresden. The installation was created for the spring tour of the Spinnerei in Leipzig and is now being shown again in a different setting.

Since 2005, Galerie b2 has been jointly run by 17 artists and the gallery management. In one of the largest exhibition spaces at the Spinnerei in Leipzig, they develop independent programmes, exhibitions and projects. For the Spinnerei’s spring tour, Collezione Grande brought together works by all 17 of the gallery’s artists in a single installation. Shelves, tables and other materials from the gallery’s collection were transformed into a display structure that linked individual positions and renegotiated the relationship between artwork, display and space.

At Galerie Felix, the original installation encounters a significantly smaller interior space and an additional outdoor area. The exhibition is therefore not reproduced, but translated. An open shelving structure, a long table in the sculpture garden and a large-format tarpaulin on the outer wall take up central elements of the Leipzig presentation and develop them further. Building on the collaborative practice of Galerie b2, Collezione Grande asks what remains of a shared space when it changes location. Between the interior and exterior spaces, an installation emerges that explores collaboration, translation and the conditions of coexistence that do not erase differences. The printed tarpaulin on the wall of Galerie Felix depicts the initial Leipzig setting of Collezione Grande as a large-format image. The exhibition thus extends beyond its physical boundaries and becomes visible even before one enters the gallery.

What we share is not a fixed state. It must be re-established time and again.
