With the "Zwischenraum" exhibition, we invite you to experience the fascinating and subtle aesthetics of Brian Curling's works.

In his subtly designed works on paper, the artist uses structures, surfaces, shapes and colours to experimentally and sensitively explore the artistic design possibilities of woodcuts time and time again. The results are impressive in their consistency and precision: fine, transparent layers of Japanese paper are delicately layered, light and airy and with "space in between"... Printed in different colours, they create a lucid interplay of visual impressions by overlapping and interacting.

The artist combines the underlying wooden printing blocks in different variations and sequences both during the printing process and afterwards. As compositionally interestingly arranged ensembles, they form autonomous works of art of independent charisma in their materiality. Careful and accurate drawings in coloured pastel chalk round off the overall picture of this special exhibition.
