What happens when art does not keep its distance but demands a relationship?

touch[d] combines visual art, performance and shared spaces of thought and experience about the body, empathy and power in an increasingly disembodied, authoritarian present. Performative references are developed especially for the exhibition in order to consciously touch the works on display. The artists are not only exhibitors, but also become mediators of their knowledge, in the summer in workshops and talks at the Dresden International Summer Academy of Fine Arts. Exhibiting is extended into learning together.

touch[d] creates a sensual-political counter-model to control, isolation and digital abstraction and makes visible how much knowledge is tied to the body, proximity and participation.
