Since 2023, DRESDNER SEZESSION 89 e.V. has been presenting professors from the HfBK Dresden with their teaching concepts, whereby students from their classes can enter the public discourse on contemporary art by presenting their results in the Galerie Drei and thus outside the art academy.

The exhibition AUFTAKELN abtakeln is the continuation of the project series with Professor Monika Brandmeier's masterclass, with one difference: Monika Brandmeier is not only there as a teacher, but is also involved in the presentation with her own works. The master students Angelina Seibert, Klara Schnieber, Misato Takakura and Felix Sondermann are showing works in the media of painting, sculpture and installation - in an artistic dialogue with their professor. 

Rigging: equipping a ship, preparing it for sailing. Unrigging: taking off the equipment, releasing the tension. The exhibitors see a process between these movements, which can be experienced in the rooms of Galerie Drei.

Felix Sonnermann describes this process as follows: 

From the linear to the spatial. 

From the intimate to the embarrassing.

From the gesture to the meticulous.

From appropriation to craft.

From panel painting to video.

From landscape to industry.

From dream to nightmare.

From the naive to reality.

From seeing to being seen.

From product to relic.

A note on a special matter:

This class exhibition will be the last project of the HfBK cooperation in the rooms of 'galerie drei'. As a result of the cultural policy developments and decisions of the city of Dresden in the years 2025/26 and the associated cuts and even complete cancellation of funding, especially with regard to the existence of independent sponsors, after 36 years of active work for women artists, for art in the Dresden cultural scene and far beyond - we are forced to close Galerie Drei from September this year.
