ANGELA DE LA CRUZ: BARRICADE DRESDEN
Barricade, Angela de la Cruz

BARRICADE DRESDEN fits in particularly well with the Kunstverein’s annual theme, ‘The Body...’. Angela de la Cruz does not treat the body merely as a motif, but as a lived reality that is directly inscribed in material, form and space. Her works revolve around fragility, resistance and transformation, and make physical experience visibly tangible in a powerful way.

This artistic practice is shaped by the artist’s own life story: following a severe stroke, Angela de la Cruz lives with significant physical limitations. This experience is not recounted illustratively in her works, but is made structurally tangible. Against the backdrop of current debates on visibility and participation, the exhibition offers a multi-layered perspective on the body as a site of vulnerability, change and perseverance. The result is an exploration of the conditions of human existence that is as personal as it is universal.
