7.9.-13.9.26: Ambisonic Tea Room – Polina Khatsenka (Phonon/CZ) and Andreas Ullrich (Third Ear Hifi/DE)
07.09.2026 — 13.09.2026
The ‘Ambisonic Tea Room’ is a temporary listening environment created by Polina Khatsenka and Andreas Ullrich, which combines a multi-channel spatial sound system with a simple, Japanese-style tea room. The space invites visitors to slow down, engage with the sound together and experience listening as a spatial and physical practice.
Throughout the residency, this space will host not only informal tea gatherings but also Ambisonic compositions and live sets, creating a setting for focused listening, grounding, conversation and shared togetherness. The installation is based on the modular OTTOsonics loudspeaker system, an accessible platform for working with ambisonics and spatial sound outside highly specialised institutional settings.
The project forms part of Polina Khatsenka’s doctoral research into auditory perception, sound architecture and the role of spatial sound in shaping attention and our relationship to space, and continues the long-term practice of spatial sound developed within the phonon~ crew.
