dresdencontemporaryart (DCA) presents ‘Thread to Triumph’, an exhibition and performance project by the Nigerian artists Taiwo Aiyedogbon and Onesa Oruoghor.

The project combines textile installations, video, sound and performance, and explores female embodiment, indigenous knowledge and cultural memory through two historical and cultural points of reference from Nigeria: Aiyedogbon’s exploration of Arugba Osun within Yoruba cosmology and Oruoghor’s reflection on the Aba women’s uprising, a significant example of female resistance within the context of anti-colonial movements in the Igbo tradition.

At the heart of the project is the thread as a metaphor for connection, transmission and transformation. Threads connect bodies, stories, generations and communities – and link textile practices with orally transmitted memory, care, resistance and cultural continuity.

During HECHT#TAG 2026, the artists will stage a performance and a participatory procession in public space.

‘Thread to Triumph’ is also a transcontinental artistic exchange between self-organised collectives: 1-98 Art Studio in Lagos, C. Rockefeller and DCA in Dresden.
