ZINNS / Matthias Jackisch - Plastik und Tuschmalerei
07.11.2025 — 19.12.2025

Sculptor and performance artist Matthias Jackisch works on found stones. He waits patiently to see what figures they will become. Then he chisels them out. This can result in a Pietà or Heinrich Heine in his mattress tomb. He always asks himself: Are they finished? How far do I have to go? The feeling that the artist is stuck in the stone never materialises. The fragmentary nature of the figures achieves a state of suspension between becoming and passing away. Jackisch's ink paintings - extremely fluid on the thinnest paper - cloud the figures or form their landscape-like primordial ground. Myriads of tiny cast figures will form the centre of the exhibition, whose material, pewter, mischievously led the artist to the title of the exhibition: ZINNS. ZINNSES ZINS is first created by the viewer.
