WERKRaum-Ausstellung + Vernissage // NE TRAVELLEZ JAMAIS – Das KloHäuschen München reist nach Dresden [auf Einladung von Heinz Schmöller]
Das KloHäuschen (München)

The KloHäuschen from Munich is travelling to Dresden ...

... and with him over 50 artists from his network
and they will meet 12 artists from the GEH8 network

The KloHäuschen is a small art space at the west entrance to Munich's Grossmarkthalle - the former men's urinal. Since 2009, it has regularly welcomed guests who realise artistic works in collaboration with it and its space. The KloHäuschen is always visible from the outside through its glass door. Over 140 individual guests have already visited. And even more at group events such as the KloHäuschen Biennale, which has been taking place since 2012.

And in 2023, Das KloHäuschen - or rather Anja Uhlig/realitaetsbüro, who is realising the "measures to animate the Klohääuschen at the Grossmarkthalle" with and for the space - will meet two Dresden artists, Heinz Schmöller and Lucas Oertel, who are currently taking part in the Arcadia Festival in Ebersberg near Munich. There were visits and return visits - and Anja got to know the GEH8 project and the GEH8-WERKRaum. And so, together with Heinz Schmöller, the idea arises that the KloHäuschen could also travel to Dresden - and the GEH8-WERKRaum is ready to make itself available as a holiday home.

But stop! The toilet block? Travelling?
Ok Ok - of course Das KloHäuschen as a property knows very well: the best-kept secret of happy existence is to be content in the place where you are.

But at the same time, it can now really travel: because since its 5th Biennale (2020), which took place as a miniature exhibition, it has had a mobile art gallery. This KH-Kunsthalle has 5 floors, a roof terrace and an outdoor area - all in 1:12 format.

And Das KloHäuschen can use its somewhat special floor plan as a means of transport (as a "flying carpet", so to speak) - it simply lays it out at its destination and then we know immediately where everything belongs.

But the best thing is: Das KloHäuschen is not travelling alone, of course.

It brings along some of its former guests as travelling companions, who show something of their former work with the KloHäuschen in miniature.

And it is looking forward to meeting artists from the network of its hosts GEH8 on site, who will be invited by Heinz Schmöller to contribute a current free artistic work to the joint exhibition - also in miniature.

The exhibition can then be viewed primarily from the outside, i.e. through the large window of the  WERKroom. And we can't yet reveal what it will look like as a holiday home, so that the KloHäuschen really feels "like it's in Dresden".

We are looking forward to getting to know each other and are super excited to see how the artists from both networks meet through their work.
