In her next exhibition, Dresdner Sezession 89 e.V. presents the Dresden conceptual artist and sculptor Ulrike Mundt
in a solo exhibition at galerie drei. For the first time, her sound sculptures, which are a focal point of her artistic work, take centre stage.
The exhibition features various works installed in the space, including the multi-part installation Radio_roh. It was developed in 2006-2008
as part of a collaboration with the TU Dresden and has now been extensively revised. In it, five sculptural loudspeakers reproduce auditory
formats such as Morse code, noise and radio that can be received on shortwave and create a carpet of sound in the room.
Wall reliefs and other works that deal with Mundt's central theme of social communication channels and their disruption
complement the show.
With her sculptures and wall works, Ulrike Mundt scrutinises current phenomena of social communication, which are often disrupted by social media and the
loss of certainties today. By adapting forms of expression from product design and combining them with handcrafted forms,
she links artistic discourse with the everyday world.
Ulrike Mundt (*1976 in Wismar) studied at the University of Greifswald, the art academies in Arnhem and Amsterdam and the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, where she was a master student of Monika Brandmeier.
Her works have attracted attention throughout Europe, with recent solo exhibitions including in Tübingen and Antwerp.
