In his painting, Tobias Herzz Hallbauer seeks to come close to the landscape as an experience of contingency, the difficult to grasp and ultimately the memory of nature that sustains us as subjects, as well as its transformation. The works of the Dresden artist, each created over weeks and months, open up in their palimpsest-like genesis as ciphers of their own questioning and mental empathy.
