Stina Malmqvist & André Talborn // Poetry has left the building
OPENING and ANNIVERSARY PARTY - Thursday, October 4, 4-10 pm!!

Schimmel Projects - Art Centre Dresden is proud to present the duo-show, Poetry has left the building, by the swedish artists Stina Malmqvist and André Talborn. Furthermore, at the opening evening we’re gonna celebrate the ‘one year anniversary’ of Schimmel Projects - Art Centre Dresden. You are invited to a great evening!

Among sawdust, clay and fluid inks Stina Malmqvist often finds herself drawing the outline of a made-up stone. Malmqvist works with a wide range of different (often found) materials. She composes sceneries and visualizes the parameter of time, through layers and layers in a pile. For the show, Poetry has left the building, Malmqvist brings along a series of stack-sculptures - a project which started out in Umeå 2012, as a result of the exaltation over her new acquaintance, the nail-gun.

A Curly line, swirling up and down like the autum leaf aiming for the ground; the second part of this Duo-show includes André Talborn. Talborn finds his way into the field of expanded painting through art books, pop-culture, architecture and japanese video-games. Interested in the aspects of two-component thinking and the juxtaposition of different dialects he mixes (dead) fields with fields of life. For this occasion Talborn shows a group of paintings and drawings made in 2018.

Stina Malmqvist received her BFA from Umeå Art Academy in 2013. The past two years Malmqvist took part in a number of group-shows including the venues Signal - Center för samtidskonst/Malmö, 8SALON/Hamburg, Sunday-S gallery/Copenhagen and Meliksetian I Briggs/Los Angeles.
André Talborn received his MFA from Umeå Art Academy in 2015. In relation to receiving the Fredrik Roos Grant Talborn were part of a group-show at Moderna Museet in Malmö 2016. Talborn has shown his works at numerous venues such as Bildmuseet/Umeå, Sunday-S gallery/Copenhagen, Salon Dahlmann/Berlin and Växjö Konsthall.

A big thanks to Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz Dresden, Freundeskreis der HfBK Dresden and Netzwerk Kreativ for supporting the exhibition.
