Joan Madison is one of the most popular  fashion designers in Ohio. She is visiting Dresden as a scholarship holder of the exchange programme.

Joan Madison is originally from New York City and has more than 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. She has perfected her skills in bridal and formal wear while learning the design and manufacturing processes of womenswear and menswear.

At the age of 13, she was apprenticed at a local fabric shop and made her first wedding dress for her very first client. Joan continued to develop her natural talent by studying at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology and Syracuse University, graduating with a degree in fashion design. Joan then continued her professional career in the Garment District of New York City. She specialised in design and manufacturing and worked at the most prestigious fashion houses in the industry...

A professional opportunity took Joan to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked as a technical designer for The Limited and then as technical design manager for Express.

Her passion for bridal and special occasion wear culminated in 2000 when Joan opened her own bridal boutique for custom couture bridal gowns. In 2006, she expanded her offerings and opened Joan's Bridal Couture, a full-service bridal salon. Whether it's bespoke gowns, designer dresses or many other services, Joan's Bridal Couture has it all.

 Joan Madison successfully competed on the  21st season of "Project Runway" in June 2025 in New York.

  "I feel the show is definitely going to inspire and give people that hope to keep pushing on," she said. "I think what this is going to show is the spirit of who we are as designers."
