From stonemason to typesetter, from typographer to graphic artist, from draughtsman to painter: the exhibition of the now 97-year-old Dresden artist Werner Pinkert offers insights into a colourful, multi-layered life's work. On display is a multifaceted spectrum that includes drawings, linocuts, collages, watercolours and oil paintings from more than 80 years: Nudes, portraits, landscapes, animals and also abstracts, complemented by typographic and book design works.

Werner Pinkert is not only known as an artist, but also valued as a teacher: among other things, he was an art teacher at the Dresden College of Education, led painting and drawing circles and was a co-founder of the Dresden Summer Painting Days. He also designed art books and posters and published illustrated articles about Dresden's churches, village centres and fountains.
