GERDA LEPKE | WIELAND FÖRSTER - PASSION
15.06.2024 — 24.08.2024
The paintings of Gerda Lepke (*1939) and the sculptures of Wieland Förster (*1930) are characterised by a passionate struggle for the figure. Two outstanding artists who developed their haunting images of people with an unmistakable visual language.
The exhibition focuses on one of Wieland Förster's main works, which is also an icon of European sculpture after 1945: the "Große Neeberger Figur" (1971-1974). In addition to the bronze figure, which is over 3 metres tall, the exhibition also features ten other sculptures by Wieland Förster as well as oil paintings and watercolours by Gerda Lepke, many of which were created in the 1970s and 1980s.
