Finding Narratives
20.04.2024 — 31.05.2024
In a "post-factual age", the topic of reality and the boundary between fiction and truth must be explored anew on all levels, both psychologically and politically, as well as artistically.

with introduction and artist talk
Five young artists - Gyde Becker, Elise Beutner, Wiebke Herrmann, Jan Kunze and Ruben Müller - want to explore this question further. The joint work began under the provisional title "The Game is Afoot" (roughly "The hunt/the game has begun!"), an exclamation by Henry V, whose most famous reciter is probably Sherlock Holmes. The game has begun - where do you find the stories?
They created "chapters", like the chapters in a book: arrangements of different works that always offer commonalities - whether in form or content. However, it is precisely in the intervals, in the spaces between the layers of the story, that traces can be found. The arrangement of the works with their respective titles provides starting points for varying stories. The arrangement in the chapters establishes reference patterns, but also important distances between the works. The headings act as funnels, focussing the eye and directing it to possible narratives.
Like a geologist detective searching for clues and paths, visitors can develop, identify and track down the narratives at intervals: the subjects are there, the fables have yet to be written.
