Even as a child, Dresden painter Katja Tomzig knew that there is more to us than we can generally see. "When Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came out 20 years ago, I spent the whole weekend reading it," she recalls. "And when I came across a sheet of paper in my room covered in colour stains, I discovered that there were all kinds of creatures in it. I quickly grabbed my coloured pencils and stopped them from disappearing again, because I didn't know how long this window would stay open."
The worry was unfounded, because the portal has remained open ever since and she can hardly look at a crumbling wall, marble slab or stain of any kind without its inhabitants appearing. And no, this doesn't require drug use😉

Since 2019, Katja Tomzig has mainly been painting in this style - preferably with egg tempera, watercolour pencils and paint, coffee or tea on Finnish cardboard and various papers. The painter calls her ever-growing series of fantastic-looking pictures with great narrative potential her FACETTES OF CREATION, which - charged with love - are primarily intended to bring joy into the world. From 7 September to 6 October 2025, the FULL MOON GALLERY - the art space of the Jugend- & Kulturprojekt e.V. at Hechtstraße 17 - will be showing the latest works from this series seven days a week, 24 hours a day in the large display windows.

Full Moon Vernissage: Katja Tomzig "FACETTEN DER SCHÖPFUNG - Neu erschienen" on 7 September, 8 pm. The artist will be on hand and will be accompanied by Dr Hustler, who will frame her works with local woods as well as the appropriate sounds. Drinks will be offered by the house bar and admission is free.

Katja Tomzig studied in Dresden and Cologne, where she lived for 11 years before coming home in 2021. The freelance artist has shown works from her series FACETTEN DER SCHÖPFUNG in various group and solo exhibitions, at art fairs and in documentaries in Europe and the USA. The young designer Haz Sam had motifs printed and embroidered by her on fabric to create a breathtaking gown that caused a sensation at Berlin Fashion Week 2023.
