Eröffnung Pavillonausstellung PATRICK WILL "Urtica D." | Parzelle 3
19.04.2024 — 26.04.2024
We are pleased to open the season for our outdoor garden plot 3 with the pavilion exhibition of the artist Patrick Will "Urtica D." in the allotment garden association "Flora I" e.V.
On Thu 25 April at 6 pm we cordially invite you to the reception in the open air in plot 3 in Dresden-Striesen! We cordially invite you to the exhibition opening reception in the open air at Parzelle 3 in Dresden-Striesen!
Patrick Will explores questions about the value of plants in his artistic work. Like many supposed 'non-herbs', the stinging nettle (Urtica) has been part of European culture and a companion of mankind for centuries. Its fibres have been used to make fabric and paint, and the lye extracted from it helps to regenerate the soil. Will tells the story of the spaces of play from the perspective of this plant actor.
Patrick Will's botanical docu-fiction shows, among other things, the plant's final possibilities for action. Although they represent a group of extraordinarily resilient plants, some of their fellow species have already been pushed back to such an extent that they are rarely found.
During the three-month exhibition, living representatives will be on site at the allotment garden association and will be happy to enter into new collaborations there too.
Patrick Will (*1991 in Wriezen, Brandenburg) is a visual artist living in Magdeburg and Chemnitz. He studied audiovisual media design at the University of Wuppertal and fine arts at the Dresden and Hamburg Universities of Fine Arts. His artistic work focuses on the coexistence of plants and humans in ecological systems. Since 2022, the location-independent weed information centre has been one of his most important artistic projects.
The first Nettle Conference Central Saxony will take place from 16 March to 23 June 2024 in parallel with the exhibition. More information about this https://www.aufweiterflur.org/brennnessel
