Schimmel Projects - Art Centre Dresden is proud to present Die Freie Variable, a group exhibition by Benjamin Andersson, Emm Berring, Arngrímur Borgþórsson, Maja Gade Christensen, Camilla Edström Ödemark, Madelaine Sillfors, Sofia Wickman and Johan Wiman. The eight artists from Iceland, Finland, Sweden and Denmark are all part of the artist-run space Galleri CC in Malmö.

The free variable is ever changeable, neither constant nor bound to other variables. Like time it flows. Layers of paint revealing the transient memories of time. Everything changes, with time the norms and stereotypes change and vary. A momentary variation in the frequency. The path becomes a series of transformations. Longing for a world of a steady constant. Holding on to the memory of the cyclical, a repetition of something constant to rely on. It reappears and feels like an imitation of what it used to be. If only you could walk in the same river twice. 

The exhibition Die Freie Variable is the first of two exchange exhibitions between Galleri CC and Schimmel Projects - Art Centre Dresden.
