The photo series ‘hier, bei mir’ by David Löffler and ‘Public housing Singapore’ by Franz Brück depict life in metropolitan housing estates.

David Löffler explores the lived environments of residents in Berlin’s prefabricated housing estates, focusing on the people themselves and their immediate surroundings. Franz Brück photographs through the windows of Singapore’s residents, revealing their living environments.

Both series depict the realities of living and daily life for people residing in modular housing estates in major cities. In both cases, there was – and still is – the utopian idea of a symbiosis between affordable housing and communal inner-city living
