For the exhibition at the Kunstverein Dresden, the Berlin-based Mexican artist Beatriz Morales has brought her pre-Hispanic textile art with her. Agave plants transform the room into a tree. A sound piece allows visitors to lose themselves in the solitude of listening. The installation tells the story of the tallest tree, which is felled with the permission of the mountain god, freed from the branches and dragged to the nearby Mexican village. This tree-like form with sawn-off branches becomes a trunk and the colours and materiality create a completely new effect of the space in the Kunstverein. The space-transforming installation turns the space and the visitors into its protagonists.
