ANGSTLUST. Can you resist the evil of the thriller?
O P E N I N G Thursday, June 21, 16:00-22:00!!

Schimmel Projects - Art Centre Dresden is proud to present ‘ANGSTLUST. Can you resist the evil of the thriller?’, by Theo Huber, Magdalena Schön and Kryštof Strejc. The exhibition is curated by Raiko Sánchez and Miriam Schröder.

ANGSTLUST is a German term which is used to describe the tingle of fear. Instead of exhibitions, most people usually tend to link the expression with either horror movies or fairs. In ghost trains, grotesque scenery, sounds and lights arouse curiosity among the visitors. For the exhibition, Raiko Sánchez and Miriam Schröder created a space in which the works are put in scene and presented in a variety of perspectives, in which the observer has the possibility to move around. Video, sculpture as well as painting are being made tangible from an experiencing and an associating point of view.

Theo Huber finished his Fine Art studies at the HfBK Dresden in the class of Prof. Monika Brandmeier in 2017 and was a guest student at the HGB Leipzig in the class of Prof. Alba D'Urbano. Magdalena Schön is studying costume design at the HAW Hamburg in the class of Reinhard von der Tannen since 2013 and together with Helen Stein, she works as an artistic collective in movie and theater productions. Since 2015, Kryštof Strejc is studying Fine Arts at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design – UMPRUM in Prague in the class of Jiri Cernicky and Michal Novotny.

Raiko Sánchez is a master student at the HfBK Dresden in the class of Prof. Martin Honert and since 2017, he is co-running the Online Blog for Contemporary Art VASISTAS. Until 2014, Miriam Schröder graduated in 2014 at the University of Paderborn in art and philosophy and is currently studying Fine Arts at the HfBK Dresden in the class of Prof. Martin Honert.

We would like to thank the StuRa of HfBK Dresden, Netzwerk Kreativ, Café OHA and the Studentenwerk Dresden for supporting the exhibition.
