Summer is slowly showing its best side and with it the desire for good conversations, fresh inspiration and an after-work drink in the open air is growing.

That's exactly why we're meeting on 4 June 2026 at 8 pm C.Rockefeller Center on Rudolf-Leonhard-Straße 54 (entrance via courtyard entrance no.58). A place made for a relaxed backyard chat at sunset. Between alternative art space, studio charm and a bit of backyard magic, the exhibition "Das Gemurmel" by Lina Backer and Mia Fahrländer awaits us.

We are looking forward to the artist and painting restorer André Schulze, who gives old paintings a second life -  original paintings, antiques and flea market finds are refurbished by André, reinterpreted and transformed into contemporary pop art using pixel graphics, graffiti and classical painting.

In addition, HfBK students and artists Mia Fahrländer and Lina Backer will talk about their joint exhibition "Das Gemurmel", in which fragile encounters, landscapes and quiet nuances meet.

André Schulze 

André is not looking for new canvases - he is interested in forgotten, damaged and discarded paintings that have fallen out of time at flea markets or antique dealers. As an artist and painting restorer, he first carefully restores these works before expanding them with his own visual language, rethinking them and making them accessible to the public again.

This results in works that bring the past and present together in a rather controversial way. André sees his art not as destruction, but as a continuation - as a second life for pictures that might otherwise have ended up in the cellar. His works move between respect, irritation and an ironic wink.

Mia Fahrländer & Lina Backer 

In their joint exhibition "Das Gemurmel" Mia Fahrländer and Lina Backer create a space for what quietly surrounds us - and yet remains with us for a long time.

Lina Backer  works with drawing, text, painting, photography and objects and deals with questions of localisation, change and subtle shifts in meaning.

Mia Fahrländer approaches themes of care, closeness and dependence in her sculptural and painterly works. Hands emerge, bodies meet, fragile moments are captured.

Together, a space is created for everything subtle, which is nevertheless ultimately sustainable.
