PIZZA PARLANCE

‚Pizza is the new religion‘ and Pizza Parlance is the new performance with Mezzo-Soprano Julia Mintzer and artist Charles Oglivie by which S T O R E presents the LP ‘PIZZA PARLANCE LIVE IN VENICE 2015′ containing the live recordings of the Performance at the opening of PIZZA PAVILION on May 7th at Venice Bienniale #56 +++++ FRESH HIGH QUALITY Pizza by SAPORI +++++

The Grand Opening of Pizza Pavilion on May 7, 2015, at Campo Santa Margherita in Venice – attended by a never-ending stream of visitors ordering Pizza until 3 oclock in the morning – was accompanied by Pizza Parlance, a semi-entertaining, anti-formalistic and psychotic comedy performed and directed by Mezzo-Soprano Julia Mintzer, artist Charles Ogilvie and composer Toby Young. Playing an inexperienced, anxious singer, the highly professional and renowned singer performed – to the audience’s surprise – perfectly crafted pieces from her operatic repertoire. Periodically throughout the evening, the opera singer’s dysfunctional interactions with her manager/technician (Charles Ogilvie- who constantly followed her around with a recording device) would erupt, revealing the aspirational stories that had led her to Venice through dramatic scenes placed amidst the crowded opening.

Julia Mintzer, mezzo-soprano, has been hailed by La Presse as “a true Carmen: extremely sensual, with the grace of a serpent, the violence of a tiger, and a mezzo of penetrating depth.” She is in her second season singing with Die Semperoper Dresden.

Charles Ogilvie is a Graduate of the sculpture department at the Royal College of Art where he gained an MFA with distinction. He is currently studying for a DPhil at Oxford University through an AHRC funded studentship.

LP limited to 12 pieces, mastered by Toby Young
